HISTORY

We are a brewery made out of stories, where the soul is the secret of our business. In this market, size does not matter, but identity does.

In each label, our heart and soul will always be present, because we know that, in order to make something really special and perennial, it is necessary, time, dedication and hard work.

Don Gentilis is a brewery family that brings the faces of brewer Cadu Lopes' parents on its labels.

DON GENTILIS

He really does exists! Mr. Gentil, an appreciator of life, joy, and a good conversation. He was born in Colônia Paulista, a small neighbourhood in São Paulo colonized by German descendants and that until today preserves Germanic traditions and customs. His great passion is cars, and in them, he spent most of his professional life working as a driver. With him, we learned the values that guide our steps until today: discipline, righteousness, and credibility. We are proud to have him as the patriarch of the Don Gentilis family.

LA MERCEDITA

Miss Mercedes, affectionately nicknamed Grandma Mê, comes to complete the Don Gentilis family. Maria Mercedes Martins Lopes is a strong and determined woman, and she has always been ahead of her time. At the age of 15, she was already driving her cart through the streets of the city of Cruzeiro, in the interior of São Paulo, where she was born. Her handcraft skills rose to new heights through sewing, crochet, knitting, and cooking. She dedicated a great part of her life to take care of her children and teach them to be the masters of their own stories. To have her as the matriarch of the Don Gentilis family is a great honour.

OUR

BREWER

Cadu Lopes, in his professional life, has worked for large companies, setting up factories and malting plants in Latin America. Cadu has always enjoyed cooking and studying about the subject, and his passion for gastronomy eventually led him to the world of specialty beers. He set up his own equipment at home and started brewing his beers and selling them to friends and what was a hobby, became his passion. In 2017 he decided to go deeper into the art of brewing, specializing at the Escola Superior de Cerveja e Malte in Blumenau city, Santa Catarina State of Brazil.

That's how in 2018, he released with his wife, Don Gentilis Cervejaria Artesanal, a place dedicated to the art of making and enjoying classic and really special beers.

OUR FACTORY

OUR BEERS

Don Gentilis beers are inspired by classics. Some, inclusive, are very little explored in Brazil, such as the Roggenbier style. We are a brewery predominantly ruled by the German school, respecting the premises of the purity law "Reinheitsgebot". However, the American, English, and Belgian schools are also present in our styles. Our beers are produced with heart, soul and high technical quality.

Whether it is the essence of tradition, or the gastronomic background of brewer Cadu Lopes, our beers are extremely gastronomic, with the potential to create surprising pairings with dishes from the most diverse cuisines.
